Did you extract the zip file first? This step is missed in the guide. When you click download on the curse website you get a .zip file. You need to right click on it, and click 'extract here' or one of the other extract options. The resulting .appimage is what actually launch curse forge.
Oh ok. Only work around i can find is launching the wow exe files in steam while still using ge proton, however updates / patches has to be done on a pc (wont be able to update on the steam deck) and wow folder resent back to the steam deck.
I followed the instructions and ran into a few problems. Once I had the battle.net launcher login going, it was incredibly laggy. It also wouldn't let me click "keep me logged in." Once I did login, the mouse would click for the library of games, but I couldn't click on the install button for wow. I restarted the steam deck and now battlenet won't open at all. Not sure what to do.
I just want to say I really enjoyed reading instructions on how to play the world of warcraft, I have always been curious about how to play it but I have just been so busy. I will definitely keep coming back to this website to read instructions. Thank you so much for posting this.
A: It did say "don't play it". The download currently available is from the old incarnation of the mod. As stated above in this list, it has no relation to the current version, apart from having been used as a base for its development. You can download it if you want, if you are curious about it, or simply if you want to take a look at the campaign map. Perhaps you would like to even create your own version of WTW using that as a base. In any case, do not expect that download to be playable by any means.

4. You need to have just one folder named "WTW" as in "Steam\steamapps\common\Medieval II Total War\mods\WTW - and then You'll start it by double-cllicking the M2TWEOP-file of the mod after which you'd click the "start Mod"-button and not "Start Vanilla" .
Also, download the MedievalII.Preference-file that i did upload on here & place in main Medieval II Total War folder - replacing the old file there. This will enable you to play defensive battles in hotseat, as well as prevent a bug causing CTD when clicking buildings on the campaign - it will also make FMV's work.

Hello, I'm having a very confusing issue with the M2TWEOP tool. I watched a few tutorials about how to install the mod, and I followed every instruction you pointed. I'm playing the CD version. Everything went ok, and, when I opened the M2TWEOP tool, and clicked on the "Start Mod" option, the tool freezes, and then a error occurs: "Missing steam_api.dll". I downloaded the .dll, did everything I needed for it, and when I tried it again, Steam opens, and then nothing happens. The game doesn't open, but Steam does, and since I don't have the game there, I can't do anything, neither I can find any solution anywhere. I hope someone can help me, I'm really eager for this mod.

Personally I had the ancient dusty Warcraft 3 CD still laying around, so I just dug that up and used the CD Key to claim it to a modern Battle.net account which gives access to the Warcraft 3 and Warcraft 3 Frozen Throne downloads:
The same way, use a CD Key and download Frozen Throne from the same Blizzard site is what I did, it comes as an installer and works great. Still a fair amount of users play battlenet games too, which is fun.
ProtonUp-Qt is a community-maintained GUI tool based on AUNaseef's CLI tool. The app allows downloading Proton versions for Steam, and WINE versions for Lutris. Totally late at this point but for other people who are just figuring this out as well. Once linux has installed and opened steam, the game will say that its non-installable. Go click on the settings button right next to the info button, open properties, configuration and click the one button available on that page. From there it should ask if you want to add to home bar or shortcut. Tada! Hope this helps
so i tried to do this and didnt have enough space so steam partally downloaded but i cant get steam to launch to finish and also whenever i launch linux it says [Error starting penguin container: 50Launching vmshell failed: Error starting crostini for terminal: 50 and i cant type. PLS HELP!
Managed to get as far as installing steam, but on launch it goes to update but fails with Fatal error and steam needing to be online to update. The laptop is connected to the internet fine and no issues. Anyone else get this and found a solution?Oh I downloaded the .deb file direct from the steam website.
Once i ran the commands in order, I received the same messages, however I was able to use the linux installer to run the install by just going to steams website, and downloading the linux (steam) installer. worked like a charm.

This was the only tutorial that worked on my machine. After the install I was never prompted for a login so I just typed steam into the command line. When it updated and opened, it then asked to login and after that I was able to browse my collection and play games. You might have to allocate more memory under the storage management section in settings for linux then restart the linux app and steam.

I tried and went through with everything here, and it does say its updating steam, but when it finishes and moves on to extracting steam, it says it cant because it failed to load steamui.so? what can i do to make it work?
